An open, independent database of every nation
Official statistics from the World Bank, United Nations agencies, the IMF and WHO, stored on our own servers, ranked with one public method and shown as living trees anyone can read.
NationsTree is built so that anyone — a student, a journalist, a professor or simply a curious reader — can understand how countries differ and change, and can cite the numbers. Each country is a tree: its height, crown, roots, dry branches and limbs are calculated from published statistics, with public rules and sources. Nothing on a tree is decoration and nothing depends on opinion.
Every value carries its year, series code, publisher and licence.
One algorithm, public weights, versioned with the index.
CSV for every indicator, read-only JSON API, checksums.
Support from readers never changes data, scores or rankings.
From a published number to a tree
World Bank WDI and WGI, Wikidata; raw responses archived.
PostgreSQL on our servers, with year, series and download date.
World rank among countries with data for the same period.
Five pillars from percentiles, public weights.
Height, crown, branches and roots drawn from the numbers.
Messages are usually answered within two working days.
